Produces and markets methanol, a clear colourless liquid chemical predominantly produced from natural gas and from coal, used primarily to produce formaldehyde, acetic acid and a wide variety of other chemicals that form various chemical derivatives, for use in the manufacture of various products, including building materials, foams, resins and plastics. Other applications include a a number of energy-related products like methyl tertiary butyl ether, a gasoline component, and for energy applications such as dimenthyl ether, biodiesel and direct blending of methanol into gasoline. Production facilities are located in Chile, Trinidad and New Zealand, with a new facility underway in Egypt. Also purchases methanol produced by others under purchase contracts and on the spot market.
